Aaron Abe Kyei-Asare

Biography
Aaron attended the University of Maryland for both his undergraduate and graduate studies, earning a B.S. in Computer Science in 2020 and earning an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction as part of the MCERT program in 2021. For the past five years, Aaron has worked in various capacities as a Software Engineer at a number of organizations including the NIH, Slack, NerdWallet, and Clever, and for the last year, has leveraged his industrial experience to facilitate culturally relevant and technically-robust curriculum as a part-time teacher at Montgomery Blair HS. Now as a full-time SMT, Aaron will be returning to Northwood High School, where he conducted his MCERT fieldwork, to help grow and further establish the computer science program as a CS Teacher. In conjunction, he will co-teach TLPL101 as part of the Terrapin Teachers program during the Fall 2022 semester, and teach CMSC106 (Intro to C Programming) with the Department of Computer Science during the Spring 2023 semester. He is eager to leverage this unique collaboration between MCPS and UMD to create meaningful learning experiences and make lasting multi-level impact.
